Report for National Conference on Research Issues in Big Data - 19th September 2015

The Department of Computer Science organized a one-day National Conference on “Research Issues in Big Data” on 19th September 2015. Around 200 members consisting of faculty members, research scholars and students from various Institutions within and outside Tamil Nadu participated in the conference and present their papers. The conference was aimed to provide a forum to discuss and dissiminate the recent research activities in the field of Big Data and its relevant fields.

Dr. V. N. Mani, Scientist-E, Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET), Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Govt. of India, Cherlappali, Hyderabad was the chief guest and delivered the Inaugural address and inaugurated the conference.  Dr. Chellapa Govindaraj, CEO, KovaiBio, Coimbatore delivered a talk on “Bigdata Analytics in Genomics”.  Dr. G. Babu, Professor, Department of Computer Applications, Adhiparashakti College of Engineering delivered a Keynote address on the topic “Research Issues in Big Data” and Mr. R.Ashok, Freelance Trainer, ZeetaB, Coimbatore delivered a Keynote address on the topic “Big Data Intelligence – The Beginning”.

Dr. J. Thirumaran, Principal, Rathinam College of Arts and Science presided over the function and delivered the presidential address.  Dr. R. Muralidharan, Vice Principal and Head, Department of Computer Science, presented the Theme of the conference and Mr. A. Uthiramoorthy, Assistant Professor in CS welcomed the gathering.  The conference proceedings were released by Dr. V. N. Mani, Scientist-E, and the first copy was received by Dr. J. Thirumaran, Principal.  In the afternoon session, around 90 papers were presented by the participants.
