Department of Computer Science ( Computer Applications - BCA) is planned to organize a one day National Level Seminar on Big Data Analytics - NLSBDA'18 on 24-01-2018 (Wednesday).

ABOUT THE SEMINAR

Big Data Analytics allow organizations to build competitive strategies around data-driven insights and derive value from vast amounts of untapped data. Whether you are tracking the efficiency of a warehouse or predicting how and when to modify staffing levels in a call center, this data science and big analytics provides the knowledge and skills required to reach the next level of decision-making maturity. 

Skills are brought to the table by Big Data scientists who obtain business value from a plethora of information by analyzing it for meaning and trends. This requires mathematical and statistical expertise as well as creative, communicative, problem-solving, and business skills, making it a very complex but incredibly valuable role. New fields have developed to train for this expanding career path, and there is a wealth of advice for those aspiring to enter the Big Data industry - which is expected to see a 500 percent job increase from January 2016 to January 2020.

• Paper, as per IEEE format not exceeding 6 to 8 pages of original work.
• Full paper/abstract should be sent to the email id cscarcas@gmail.com. 
• Send the full paper on or before 18th January 2018.
• At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register to the seminar and present the paper.
• Plagiarism in any form will result in rejection of the paper.

All registered papers-abstract will be published in proceedings with a revision and review.

SmartThings - IoT by Samsung

Samsung is combining its various Internet of Things services under a single banner called SmartThings Cloud, the company announced on 19-10-2017 at the 2017 Samsung Developer Conference.

While in the past various Samsung IoT devices have used SmartThings, Samsung Connect, and ARTIK platforms, going forward the company will be uniting them into SmartThings Cloud. Samsung says that SmartThings Cloud will provide “a single, powerful cloud-based hub,” and that SmartThings Cloud will be a new open ecosystem, that will work with both Samsung devices and other third-party products.

CONFERENCE THEME

The Internet of Things (or IoT for short) refers to uniquely identifiable objects and their virtual representations in an Internet-like structure, connecting any device with an on and off switch to the Internet. Pervasive connectivity, smart devices and demand for data testify to an IoT that will continue to grow by leaps and bounds. Computing power is dropping in price while new sensors are being developed and incorporated into everyday objects, and as people buy into IoT technology, economies of scale lend themselves to the creation of ever more data-centric businesses. The Internet of Things Conference is seeking original, high impact research papers on all topics related to the development of the Internet of Things. Papers will be reviewed and selected based on technical novelty, integrity of the analysis and social impacts and practical relevance.

Report of the International Conference on Data Science and Analytics

Rathinam College of Arts and Science, Department of Computer Science organized International Conference on Data Science & Analytics “ICDSA’17” on 23^rd Sep 2017 in association with ICT Academy, IJSER and BONFRING. The conference was inaugurated by  Dr. Ir. Frank Cremer, Big Data Architect, Geomatik, Netherlands and he delivered the inaugural address. Conference theme was presented by Dr. R. Muralidharan, Principal, Rathinam College of Arts and Science. Presidential address was delivered by Dr. Madan A. Sendhil, Chairman, Rathinam Group and the felicitation address was given by Prof. R. Manickam, CEO, Rathinam Group.

 Followed by the inauguration there were two different technical sessions handled by two different keynote speakers. Session I was handled by Mr. Sivaram Easwaran, Technical Instructor, IBM Career Education under the topic of “DevOps: What, Why and How”. Session II was handled by Dr. M. Kannan, Asst Prof, Dept of CSA, SCSVMV University under the topic of “ Astro Mining”. After the technical session, Participants of various colleges had presented their paper.

In this conference around 300 papers had been received. Short listed participants had presented their papers under their respective topics. Participants of the conference were from Netherlands, Malaysia, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Bangalore. Also, call for paper broucher for CSIR sponsored National Conference on IOT to be conducted during 22^nd & 23^rd December 2017 was released.

The motive of the conference is to stress the importance of Data Analytics. And it had insisted the three things which are Cost reduction; Faster, better decision making; New products and services.
